new order at the paradise garage, NYC, july 1983
idk what to put here...
new order is an english 'rock' band formed in 1980 by vocalist Bernard Summers. members include stephen morris (drummer), gillian gilbert (keyboard), phil cunningham (guitar), and tom chapman (bass) (but those last two are not rlly important) new order was formed after the disbanding of bernard summer's previous group, joy division. in the 80's most of their popularity was gained from preforming in NYC nightclubs, until their single 'Blue Monday' was released, which would become the best selling 12-inch single of all time.
nowadays i wouldn't really call new order 'rock'-- they're a mix of so many different genres. the odd club soundtracks of the 80s, mixed with a definite alternate / experimental sound in all of their songs. just listening to one song will give you the idea-- each song is so different from one another, but you know exactly who its from. their melancholy lyrics mixed with an otherworldy sound make them one of my favorite artists.
